5th International Workshop on Diagnostic of Prostate Cancer by Prostate MRI and MRI-Directed Prostate Biopsies

Hôpital Cochin, Université Paris Descartes,  Paris, France

September 2020, Thursday 24-Friday 25

The 5th international workshop on diagnosis of PCa by mpMRI and MR-directed biopsies has a new format. It aims to gather urologists, radiologists, pathologists and all interested physicians for a comprehensive approach of diagnosis of prostate cancer. This workshop combines oral presentations by international speakers on MRI features of prostate cancer (40% of the time), and hands-on sessions on workstations (60% of the time) to analyze 45-50 MRI cases throughout the workshop.

Two sessions will be devoted to a correlation of MRI cases with pathological features of whole mount radical prostatectomy specimens analysed by a uropathologist with a microscope connected to a video-camera. These radiological-pathological correlations represent an invaluable educational material to understand all MRI features of PCa.

Workstations (one for two registrants) will be available for the self-assessment sessions, followed by comments done by the experts.

An electronic voting system will be available which ensures a strong interactivity between the registrants and the speakers. It also serves as an indicator of the slope of the learning curve throughout the workshop

The course also aims to describe the different issues encountered in the management of the diagnosis of PCa : prostate biopsies, Gleason grade groups, artificial intelligence, biomarkers, risk calculators and the different techniques of prostate biopsies including the respective role of systematic and targeted MR-directed biopsies as well as the reasons for the growing popularity of the transperineal approach.
